About the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus
The DWS in the name stands for dry, wet and snow, and unusually for an all-season tire it delivers on all three. This is a performance tire first, with sharp steering response and high dry grip, but Continental gave it a tread and compound that handle standing water far better than most performance rubber, which is what makes it liveable through a Calgary spring. The tread carries wear indicators that tell you when it has dropped below usable snow and wet performance, which is a genuinely useful feature. Treat the snow capability as light-duty: it will get you home in a surprise flurry, but it is not a substitute for winter tires here.
