About the Michelin X-Ice Snow
The X-Ice Snow is Michelin's flagship studless winter tire, and its defining trait is that it does not fall off a cliff as it wears. Michelin builds the compound and the biting edges through the full depth of the tread, so a set in its third season still behaves much like it did in its first. That matters in Calgary, where a winter tire typically sees four or five months a year and has to last several seasons to make financial sense. Grip on packed snow and cold dry pavement is excellent, road noise is low for a winter tire, and the tread pattern clears slush well. If you want to fit winter tires once and forget about them for four or five years, this is the safe pick.
